Initially, Ewan was declared the winner. After the Australian told his story in front of the camera, the jury decided, after studying the photo finish, to award the victory to the Belgian Thijssen. Much to the anger of Ewan, who posted two photos on Twitter in which it looks like he really is pushing his front wheel over the line in front of Thijssen.
“If anyone has a photo that clearly shows ‘Big G’ beating me, I would definitely feel a whole lot better,” the Aussie wrote along with the photos. Last month, based on a photo finish, he also missed victory in the first stage of the Tour of the United Arab Emirates. It then took a quarter of an hour for the jury to decide on the basis of the photo to declare Belgian Tim Merlier the winner.
