Bonevacia tried to put in a good run from the tricky track 2, but he clearly suffered from the tight corners. After merging in the second lap, he was already fourth. He couldn’t go up one place.
Bonevacia has been the standard bearer for Dutch 400m athletes for years. He was part of the 4×400 meters relay team that won silver at the Tokyo Olympics and also won 4×400 gold at the European Indoor Championships in Torun two years ago. He also has two bronze medals, obtained in the 400 meters at the European Indoor Championships in 2017 and 2021. He also holds the Dutch record with a time of 45.48.
