For a long time, it didn’t look like RKC would win. Heerenveen was much better and had plenty of chances. It took until the 35th minute for coach Kees van Wonderen’s team to take the lead. Ché Nunnely headed the ball against the post, after which Sydney van Hooijdonk scored from the rebound: 1-0. The striker was last accurate in the competition at the end of October and has now netted seven times.
RKC coach Joseph Oosting stepped in midway and made three substitutions. Heerenveen was initially stronger, but the second goal did not materialize. Florian Jozefzoon, one of three newcomers to RKC, equalized after an hour.
RKC continued and defender Julian Lelieveld made it 2-1 in the 75th minute, followed shortly after by substitute Yassin Oukili’s 3-1. Jozefzoon made it 4-1 in added time. It was the eleventh goal for an RKC Waalwijk substitute this season in the Eredivisie.
For three of the four goals scored by RKC, the assist came from striker Mats Seuntjens.
