Senior company and Formula 1 officials confirmed the deal in Doha, without going into details. The Formula 1 season kicks off on March 5 in Bahrain, with world champion Max Verstappen and newcomer Nyck de Vries among others.
“We are a perfect match,” said Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali. “This airline and our organization are brands with global impact. We are a perfect match.”
Qatar Airways said it was very selective when it came to supporting sporting events. “But Formula 1 meets all the requirements as far as we are concerned. This is an important strategic step for us.”
